Da qualche anno la società olandese ha ridotto drasticamente la presenza nel mercato dei dispositivi mobile dopo alcuni esemplari di discreto successo; oggi Philips riprova a cimentarsi nell’ambito dei tablet puntando a dispositivi da 7 pollici, notoriamente il miglior compromesso fra funzionalità e portabilità. Diversa e un po’ fuori tendenza la scelta del processore che sarà il MIPS di MIPS Technologiesper la quale Google ha promesso notevole supporto. La risoluzione del display sarà 1024×600 oppure 800×480 a seconda dei modelli (??), sarà possibile leggere i più comuni file video (MP4, H.264 e WMV) e la batteria dovrebbe garantire fino a 5 ore continue di autonomia. Date le discutibili scelte HW, si accettano scommesse su quanti ne venderanno.

Philips renews its Android tablet line pointing on 7 inches

From some years Dutch company has drastically reduced its presence in the mobile device market after a few model of moderate success; now Philips tries again to venture within tablets pointing on 7 inches devices, the best known compromise between functionality and portability. Different and a little bit off the trend the choice of processor that it will be the MIPS from MIPS Technologies for which Google has promised strong support. The display resolution will be 1024 × 600 or 800×480 depending on the model (??), it will be possible to read the most common video files (MP4, H.264 and WMV) and the battery should provide up to 5 continuous hours. Given the questionable HW choices , we accept bets on how many they will sell.
