Non è certo un segreto per nessuno, per quanto le case produttrici cerchino di negare il fatto, che la batteria sia il vero tallone d’Achille dei nostri dispositivi, smartphone o tablet che siano. Le aumentate prestazioni, i processori sempre più potenti, i display sempre più luminosi e contrastati sono veri pozzi succhia energia e la povera batteria fa quello che può. Ci sono casi limite di veri problemi HW/SW ma, fortunatamente, qualche volta si riesce a migliorare la situazione con pochi, semplici passaggi, eseguibili anche da chi non è un vero esperto dello “smanettamento”. Il nostro mitico Tanoxxx, moderatore del Forum, ha scritto una guida molto esaustiva che elenca una serie di procedure per la calibrazione della batteria, operazione che, quasi sempre, permette di ottenere notevoli risparmi a parità di condizioni di utilizzo. Lascio che sia lui stesso a descrivere in cosa consiste, tecnicamente, la “calibrazione” (o Wipe Battery): “Il Wipe Battery non fa altro che cancellare il file “batterystats.bin” che si trova all’interno del percorso /data/system/…. Questo file contiene tutte le informazioni “vitali” ed essenziali della vostra batteria quali la carica massima e minima, il voltaggio, i tempi di ricarica ed altre informazioni. Questo file, dopo esser stato cancellato tramite tale procedura, verrà ricreato dal sistema in maniera corretta.”

[TUTORIAL] Battery calibration (Wipe Battery)

It is certainly no secret, as the manufacturers try to deny the fact that the battery is the real Achilles heel of our devices, it doesn’t matter if smartphones or tablets. The increased performance, more powerful processors, displays more bright and contrasting are real sucking energy and poor battery does what it can. There are extreme cases of real HW/SW problems  but, luckly, sometimes you can improve the situation with a few simple steps, executables even by those  who are not a true expert of the “hack”. Our mythical Tanoxxx, Forum moderator, has written a very comprehensive guide that lists a set of procedures for calibrating the battery, operation that, nearly always, allows to obtain significant savings on equal terms of use. I leave himself to describing what is, technically, the “calibration” (or Wipe Battery): “The Wipe Battery does delete the file” batterystats.bin “located in the path /data/system /…. This file contains all “vital” informations of our battery such max-min charging, voltage, the charging time and other information. This file, after being canceled by this procedure, will be recreated by the system properly. “
