Una buona nuova per i tedeschi possessori di HTC Sensation XE; alcuni utenti riportano la notizia dell’arrivo dell’aggiornamento ad Ice Cream Sandwich dei loro dispositivi insieme a quello della Sense che passa alla versione 3.6. Evidentemente il modello non supporta tutte le nuove features della versione 4.0 anche se in altre occasioni abbiamo visto che i porting hanno reso quasi perfettamente compatibili le nuove versioni di Sense anche sui terminali più datati. L’aggiornamento arriva con un paio di settimane di anticipo rispetto a quanto annunciato da HTC che prevedeva l’update pronto dalla fine di Marzo. I prossimi dispositivi a ricevere ICS dovrebbero essere il Sensation e poi il Sensation XL. Voglio esprimere un pensiero, on’opinione personale; voi sapete che non sono mai stato particolarmente tenero nei confronti di Apple e della sua politica, nonostante possegga due iPhone (Edge e 4) che uso regolarmente, ma prima che Android garantisca gli aggiornamenti con almeno metà della puntualità della casa di Cupertino passeranno anni. So già che la prima obiezione che arriverà sarà quella riguardante l’esiguo numero di dispositivi (tre+ uno se contiamo iTV) con iOS ma non trovo più ammissibile che, nel 2012, debbano passare più di quattro mesi (Galaxy Nexus presentato a Novembre) dal rilascio del primo aggiornamento per iniziare a vedere il nuovo OS anche sugli altri telefoni/tablet e con un sacco di problemi oltretutto (vedi Nexus S, telefono GE della scorsa generazione). Al MWC ho chiesto ai responsabili dei più importanti brand il perchè e ho ricevuto un numero di risposte diverse, almeno pari alle persone alle quali ho posto la domanda. La seconda obiezione sarà, sicuramente, quella delle ROM cucinate; belle quanto volete ma non certo scevre da rischi. La terza obiezione sarà che ICS non aggiunge molto rispetto a GingerBread ed allora mi chiedo: perchè rilasciarla? Oltretutto abbiamo visto come le prestazioni dell’Asus Transformer aggiornato siano decisamente migliorate. Aggiornamento: il vero tallone d’Achille dei dispositivi Android.

HTC Sensation XE: in Germany is coming Ice Cream Sandwich

Good news for German HTC Sensation XE owners; some users report the news of the upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich of their devices togetherwith the Sense that upgrades to version 3.6. Maybe the model doesn’t support all the new features of version 4.0 despite on other occasions we have seen that the porting have made almost perfectly compatible new Sense versions also on older devices. The update comes with a couple of weeks ahead of what was announced by HTC which provided the first update ready by the end of March. The next devices to receive ICS should be the Sensation and then the Sensation XL. I want to express a thought, a personal opinion; you know that i have never been particularly tender against Apple and its policy, despite i’ve two iPhone (Edge and 4) that I use regularly, but before Android ensures updates with at least half-time of the house of Cupertino will pass several years. I know that the first objection will be the one on the small number of devices (three+one if you count  iTV) with iOS but i can not find acceptable that, in 2012, should pass more than four months (Galaxy Nexus had been presented last November) from release of the first update to start seeing the new OS on other phones/tablets and, moreover, with a lot of problems (see Nexus S, telephone GE of a generation ago). At MWC, I asked representatives of the most important brand why and I received a number of different answers, at least equal to the number people to whom I posed the question. The second objection is, undoubtedly, the one about the cooked ROM; nice as you want but certainly not free from risks. The third objection will be that ICS does not add too much compared to GingerBread and then I wonder: why release it? Above we saw how updated Asus Transformer performances are much improved.
