Niente gelato party per il Nexus One

Visto all’opera il nuovo Galaxy Nexus, un po’ me lo aspettavo …

Con l’introduzione dell’accelerazione hardware, probabilmente la GPU del primo Googlefonino che sicuramente, dopo 2 anni di vita, resta il terminale Android secondo me più riuscito insieme al gemello HTC Desire, non riesce a stare al passo coi tempi per raggiungere con la versione 4.0 di Android una buona fluidità. Infatti secondo quanto dice Hugo Barra di Google, il Nexus One ha un hardware troppo vecchio per supportare debitamente ICS.

Finora c’è da dire che il Nexus One è stato pienamente e sempre prontamente aggiornato fino ad avere Android Gingerbread 2.3.7, a dispetto di molti terminali fermi ancora alla versione 2.2 e con Cyanogen e altri cuochi si era riuscito a far esprimere al massimo il terminale, anche attivando la radio FM presente come hardware ma non supportata nativamente da Google.

Con Ice Cream Sandwich, il salto generazionale è piuttosto evidente e le tante animazioni grafiche inserite, cominciano a pesare probabilmente troppo per la GPU montata sullo Snapdragon da 1 Ghz che tanto ci ha fatto sognare al suo esordio. Il Nexus S, invece sarà ufficialmente aggiornato entro Natale, e anche questa non è una sorpresa.

Questa notizia ci da anche una indicazione su quali e quanti terminali dovremo aspettarci un aggiornamento o meno a ICS, e a occhio e croce solo i nati nel 2011, probabilmente parteciperanno al gelato party …

Insomma … i possessori del Nexus One devono disperare ? Io non credo … perchè almeno per un bel po’ continuerà ad essere il terminale più supportato e moddato dalla comunità di sviluppatori con XDA in testa. E non appena verranno rilasciati i sorgenti di ICS, potrete stare tranquilli che il Nexus One avrà ancora molte sorprese da esprimere.

E comunque ci sono già ROM in lavorazione basate sull’SDK, se volete iniziare a divertirvi potete seguire il progetto QUI ;)

Steve Jobs dichiarò di essere pronto alla guerra termonucleare pur di distruggere Android

Come tutti sapete sta per arrivare in libreria l’autobiografia ufficiale di Steve Jobs, genio dell’elettronica e proprietario di Apple, morto un paio di settimane fa. Fra gli innumerevoli episodi riportati nel libro uno in particolare rende l’idea di cosa pensasse Mr. Jobs a proposito di Android e ci fa anche capire il perchè delle innumerevoli denuncie di Apple nei confronti dei dispositivi con l’OS di Mountain View. Mr. Jobs dichiarò di essere pronto ad utilizzare fino all’ultimo centesimo dei 40 miliardi di $ di Apple per distruggere Android e rimediare così al furto di idee da parte di Google, dicendosi scherzosamente pronto alla guerra nucleare se ci fosse stato bisogno. In un incontro con Eric Schmidt, che prima di diventare CEO di Google faceva parte del consiglio di amministrazione di Apple, in un bar di Palo Alto per cercare un accordo, Jobs disse che neanche un’offerta di 5 milioni di $ sarebbe servita per fargli cambiare idea sulle denunce ma solo la certezza che Google avrebbe smesso di copiare i progetti e le idee Apple che, secondo Jobs, sarebbero stati utilizzate sul Nexus One di HTC. Io non ho la certezza di chi abbia copiato per primo ma vedendo le “novità” di iOS5 i dubbi sono tanti…..

As you all know is about to arrive in bookstores the official autobiography of Steve Jobs, electronics genius and Apple’s owner, died a couple of weeks ago. Among the many episodes in the book one in particular gives an idea of what Mr. Jobs thought about Android and also makes us understand why many of the Apple complaints against devices with the Mountain View OS. Mr. Jobs said he was ready to use every penny of the Apple’s 40 billion $ to destroy Android and so deal with the theft of ideas from Google, saying jokingly ready for nuclear war if we were needed. In a meeting with Eric Schmidt, who before becoming CEO of Google was on the board of directors of Apple, in a bar in Palo Alto to seek an agreement, Jobs said that not even an offer of 5 million $ would have served to make him change his mind about complaints but only ensure that Google would stop copying Apple’s ideas and projects that, according to Jobs, would be used on the HTC Nexus One. I’m not sure of who is copied first, but seeing the “newness” of iOS5 there are many doubts …..

“I will spend my last dying breath if I need to, and I will spend every penny of Apple’s $40 billion in the bank, to right this wrong … I’m going to destroy Android, because it’s a stolen product. I’m willing to go thermonuclear war on this.

“I don’t want your money. If you offer me $5 billion, I won’t want it. I’ve got plenty of money. I want you to stop using our ideas in Android, that’s all I want”.

Come fare l’aggiornamento manuale a Gingerbread per il Nexus One

Qualche giorno fa vi abbiamo parlato dell’imminente rilascio delle nuove versioni di Gingerbread per Nexus S e Nexus One. Ovviamente bisognerà aspettare che siano disponibili via OTA per poterli scaricare ed installare. Ma siamo sicuri che sia proprio così? Date un’occhiata a questo video e vedrete che esistono soluzioni alternative. Una precisazione: i telefoni di cui si parla non sono “rootati” ma assolutamente normali. Buona visione.

In arrivo Gingerbread 2.3.3 per Nexus One e Nexus S

Ecco una notizia che non potrà che fare piacere ai possessori di Nexus S e, soprattutto, di Nexus One. GoogleNexus on Twitter ha comunicato che sta per essere rilasciato l’aggiornamento alla versione 2.3.3 di Gingerbread per i due Nexus. Saranno introdotte nuove features per il sistema di pagamento NFC introdotto proprio con il Nexus S. Per l’update completo saranno necessarie alcune settimane, per cui occorrerà un po’ di pazienza.

Gingerbread 2.3.3. update for Nexus S and Nexus One is coming

Here’s a good news that will only give pleasure to the owners of Nexus S and, most of all, Nexus One. GoogleNexus on Twitter announced that is going to be released the update to version 2.3.3 of Gingerbread for the two Nexus. It introduces new features for the NFC payment system introduced with the Nexus S. For the full update will take several weeks, so it will take some patience.

Nexus One: aggiornamento OTA ad Android Gingerbread nei prossimi giorni?

Molti di voi sono in attesa dell’aggiornamento a Gingerbread (Android 2.3) per il Nexus One. Ebbene, se è vero quanto riportato su MobileCrunch, sembra che un operatore di Google (ed altre fonti), presente al MWC, abbia menzionato l’imminente arrivo di Gingerbread sul Nexus One!

L’aggiornamento dovrebbe avvenire via OTA (Over The Air) proprio nei prossimi giorni.

Nexus One: OTA update to Android Gingerbread in the next few days?

Many of you are waiting to Gingerbread upgrade (Android 2.3) for Nexus One. Well, if it’s true what shown on MobileCrunch, it seems that one Google’s operator (and others sources), present at the MWC did refer about the imminent arrival of Gingerbread for Nexus One!
The update should happen via OTA (Over The Air) in the next few days.

I possessori di Nexus One stanno ricevendo un aggiornamento via OTA alla versione 2.2.2 di FroYo (FRG83G) che, però, non è ancora Gingerbread. L’aggiornamento pesa 558 Kb e dovrebbe risolvere alcuni bugs anche se ancora non si conosce con precisione quali. L’aggiornamento, qualora non lo riceveste via OTA, è disponibile QUI. Aspettiamo i vostri feedback.

NEXUS ONE GETS FROYO 2.2.2 UPDATE

Nexus One owners are getting via OTA FroYo 2.2.2 update (FRG83G) which is not Gingerbread still. Update is 558 Kb and should resolve some bugs but it doesn’t know exactly which ones. If you don’t get the update via OTA, it is available HERE. We wait for your feedback.

L’amico Massimiliano ha girato un video riguardante il suo Nexus One, ad un anno dall’uscita, facendo notare che con i tweak e le ROM giuste, in questo caso la Cyanogen Nightly 6.1.1, il terminale è ancora molto attuale e competitivo.

In arrivo Gingerbread per Nexus One (Gingerbread for nexus One is coming)

Era ovvio aspettarselo ma alcuni rumors delle ultime settimane avevano fatto temere che il primo dispositivo Google Experience, il Nexus One, potesse essere abbandonato a favore del nuovo Nexus S e quindi non ricevere l’aggiornamento ad Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Invece l’aggiornamente arriverà nelle prossime settimane.

Lo conferma un Tweet ufficiale di Google che riportiamo integralmente:

“The Gingerbread OTA for Nexus One will happen in the coming weeks. Just hang tight!”

In attesa che i proprietari di Nexus One possano ricevere l’aggiornamento ufficiale, è possibile provare le tante ROM coocked che gli sviluppatori di XDA hanno già preparato.

It is obviously waiting for it, but some rumors in the last weeks seem to say that the first Google Experience device should be abandoned at the place of the new Nexus S and don’t get the last Android OS Gingerbread update.

But, luckly, Gingerbread update will come in few weeks instead.

This is the Google Twitter official Tweet wich has confirmed the new:

“The Gingerbread OTA for Nexus One will happen in the coming weeks. Just hang tight!”

While Nexus One’s owners are waiting for Gingerbread official update, they may enjoy the XDA’s Cooked ROM that are ready to work already.

Nexus S vs Nexus One by TechnoBuffalo

Con l’arrivo ufficiale del Nexus S, iniziano a fioccare i confronti con la concorrenza, ma anche con l’illustre predecessore: sua maestà Nexus One.

TechnoBuffalo ha voluto fare un videoconfronto tra i 2, anche se a mio avviso non è un confronto alla pari, poichè il Nexus One in questo video, monta ancora una versione di Android Froyo. L’hardware dei 2 terminali è già diverso di per se, e quindi secondo me per dare un giudizio obiettivo si deve partire almeno dalla stessa versione di sistema operativo.

Questo è esattamente il tipo di confronto che spero di fare a breve, quando mi arriverà l’agognato Nexus S che purtroppo sta vivendo anche lui tutti i disagi nel maltempo in Europa

Nel frattempo godetevi questa anteprima (un po’ prematura) dopo il break …
